In 2003, CU student Nathan Seidle blew a power supply in his dorm room and found he could only order replacement parts in bulk. Since then, he has been on a mission to make electronics and supporting documentation available to individuals everywhere. When Dean Kamen gives Raspberry Pi a shout out while hyping kids up about the affordable and easily approachable Experiential Robotics kit built by SparkFun Electronics! 😭 😭 😭 This was my second year attending the FIRST Championships in Houston, and I will never stop being amazed at the sheer potential of these kids. If they are any indication, the future is bright, bold, and covered in googly eyes! Last weekend, volunteers from IEEE Denver and Metro State University collaborated on a community event. Led by Jim Harrer, the Build Something Cool Event brought together approximately 70 enthusiastic students ranging from grades 6 to 12, alongside their supportive parents. The students created their own projects using electronic kits from SparkFun Electronics and Arduino. Seeing the excitement on the students' faces as their projects came to life was truly rewarding. The “Discovery Tables" featuring captivating STEM experiments (ranging from slime-making to strawberry DNA extraction, and Sphero Bolts) added an extra layer of excitement to the event. We extend our deepest gratitude to the dedicated volunteers whose unwavering commitment and tireless efforts were instrumental in bringing this event to fruition.
